Wisconsin Saves Fun Tip: Technology Savings

OST Design large sealThe Wisconsin Office of the State Treasurer proudly teams up with WWBIC (Wisconsin’s WomensWWBIC Business Initiative Corporation) for “Wisconsin Saves Fun Tip.”

This week, we take a look at those extended warranties retailers entice you with at the checkout and if it pays to purchase them.  The answer is simple…

Skip the extended warranty:  every time you purchase a new gadget, you’re likely presented with a retailer’s extended warranty or some form of insurance.   In most cases, these warranties just aren’t worth it.  If you’re clumsier than usual, it might work for you, but for the majority of us, it’s easier to start your own warranty/replacement fund.  If you do purchase, be sure to read the fine print:  does it cover theft?  Water damage? Usual wear and tear?
